Pictor

The Pictor series stems from the Biopic series that I created in 2009, in which I portrayed different figures from world history (Aldo Moro, Idi Amin, or Francisco Franco) using only movie stills.

This time, the figures depicted are painters. We do not see only Picasso, Frida Kahlo, or Jackson Pollock, however; we also recognize Anthony Hopkins, Salma Hayek, and Ed Harris. This duality of representation—a painter represented by an actor or actress, whose own features we recognize, in turn leading us to think about their filmography, which is ultimately contrasted with the true face of a figure that we know through self-portraits or photographs—is something I find extremely interesting.
